Conversational Artificial Intelligence includes the following research areas:

- Natural Language Processing
- Conversational Modeling and Systems
- Machine Learning
- Affective Computing

The SIS Lab has been training intelligent machines and evaluating AI-based systems in the last three decades in many industry sectors from fintech to health.

The lab research team is interdisciplinary and attracts researchers from computational linguistics, psychology, applied math, biomedical and  electrical engineering and computer science.

The candidates should have strong background, past achievement records in the areas of Conversational Research and/or Engineering.

The Signals and Interactive Systems Lab (University of Trento, Italy) is looking for top-candidates for funded research internships.We are looking to cover the following areas of interest: Automatic Speech Recognition

  • Language Understanding (Text/Speech/Multimodal)
  • Dialog Modeling (Text/Speech/Multimodal )
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Machine Learning

Candidates will be working on research domains such as Mobile Interactive Agents, Question Answering Systems, Speech/Text Mining, Statistical Machine Translation, Behavioral Signal Understanding, Crowd Computing and ICT applications to teaching and learning.

Research internships are great opportunities to get familiar with the wide rage of research in the lab and get introduced to the department graduate school research programs. Check some of past projects students have worked and follow this link.

The SIS Lab research is driven by interdisciplinary approach to the analysis and interpretation of diverse signals ( e.g. speech, text, biosignals, multimodal ) to support human-human and human-machine interaction. The SIS Lab has state-of-the-art technology infrastructure and collaborations with premiere national, international research centers and industry research labs. The successful candidates will be conducting research on one research topic or contributing to lab-wide research projects.

DURATION and ACCOMODATION

Internship duration is for 10 weeks with a possibility of extension. Research interns may benefit from tax benefits, reduced campus lodging and cafeteria reduced rates.
